Rentiful is committed to creating a trusted rental marketplace for renters, landlords, agents, and property managers. This Safety & Anti-Fraud Policy outlines how we protect users from fraudulent behavior and how you can stay safe when using the platform.
1. Verified Listings & Users
We use multiple checks to maintain a secure platform:
- Property verification (document or mail-code)
- Manager identity verification (NIN, BVN, Passport, or ID)
- Fraud monitoring across listing uploads
- Account activity risk scoring
2. Prohibited Activities
Users may not engage in any fraudulent, harmful, or deceptive behavior. This includes:
- Posting fake or misleading property listings
- Requesting payment outside Rentiful’s secure flow
- Impersonation or falsifying identity
- Submitting fraudulent documents
- Scamming renters during showing appointments
- Sharing or selling another user’s application data
3. Safety Guidelines for Renters
- Do not pay rent, deposits, or viewing fees outside Rentiful.
- Use Rentiful’s chat and booking system — avoid off-platform requests.
- Request a video showing when unsure about the property.
- Only meet managers at verified property addresses.
- Report suspicious behavior immediately.
4. Safety Guidelines for Landlords & Managers
- Communicate only through Rentiful’s secure systems.
- Verify renter identity before confirming applications.
- Use Rentiful’s contract and signature workflow.
- Do not request cash meetings or payments.
- Report suspicious applications or behavior.
5. Reporting Fraud or Abuse
If you suspect fraudulent activity, please contact us immediately at safety@rentiful.ng.
We investigate all reports and take action including:
- Account suspension or removal
- Property listing removal
- Document re-verification
- Escalation to law enforcement where necessary
